The Silverstone Tyres North Eastern Rally, organised by the North Eastern Car Club and directed by Stuart Lister, was held on October 25.

In one of the closest finishes in a VRC heat ever, the two rivals for the 2003 VRC finished just 3 seconds apart after just over 100 km of special stages. It was Mike Reeves and Robin Smalley who came out on top in their Evo 3, just enough points to give then the state title for 2003 ahead of Mark Fawcett and Kylie Evans in their Subaru. Best of the rest were Peter and Chris Montgomery, more than a minute adrift.
Ben Fawcett with Tony Boyd in the 2WD Pulsar put in a great performance to finish 7th, first 2WD and first Clubman, while Brad and Melinda Sanders in their Suzuki were the only Novices to finish.
