1956 Otway Trial

The Otway Trial, organised by the Western District Car Club and directed by Messrs. G. Little, W. Miles and J. Gray, was held in August

The two-day event was a true “rally” with cars starting from Geelong, and Colac to converge at Winchelsea and then follow a fairly straightforward route over a good roads to the overnight stop in Apollo Bay. The return route to Fyansford (Geelong) on Sunday was more challenging and included Lardners Track, Burton’s Lookout, Gerangamete and a tricky hillclimb near Corindhap, before heading past the You Tangs.

The winners were Rob Mills and navigators Nev Price and Alan Coleman in a Ford Zephyr.

A report appeared in Australian Motor Sports.
