The South Australian round returned to the ARC in the form of the Festival State Rally after an absence of two years.
It was four wins from four rounds for Greg Carr and Mick Harker in the Lancia. His nearest rivals, perhaps with some local knowledge, were Ed Ordynski and Lyn Wilson in the Galant VR, but more than 2 minutes adrift. Murray Coote and Iain Stewart headed a swag of Mazda 232 Familia into third place.
