Rally Queensland bounced back from the previous year’s cancellation. Greg Carr again dominated in the Lancia, winning by over 3 minutes from local, Murray Coote in the Mazda 323 Familia. With five wins from five rounds, Carr and Harker had secured the national title for 1989. It was also a great result for local George Kahler with navigator Tony Best in another Mazda 323 taking the final podium position, albeit almost 18 minutes back.
