1992 Festival State Rally SA

The Festival State Rally (SA) was held on May 23-24.

Australian Rally Championship Round 3

It was a decisive first ARC round win for Possum Bourne and Rodger Freeth in their Subaru Liberty, more than 2 minutes ahead of Ross Dunkerton and Fred Gocentas in their Galant, the latter not contesting the full ARC. Likewise, local Ed Ordynski with Harry Mansson in another Galant completed the podium, although not contesting the full ARC. Title leaders Rob Herridge and Mark Nelson finished fourth, picking up valuable series points.

Route

The event was broadly similar to the previous year with a start along Memorial Drive in North Adelaide then gravel stages to the Barossa Valley to the east. Night stages took crews back to Adelaide with three tarmac stages in the Lofty Ranges. Sunday was to the east with a super special at the Birdwood oval, run twice, and gravel stages around Mannum
