The Holden Dealer Team had a successful year winning four of the six rounds of the ARC, mostly in XU-1 Toranas, but also a win for Kilfoyle at the Akademos in a Monaro. Reigning champion, Bob Watson, won the first heat in the Renault Gordini and Mal McPherson took the SA round in a similar car amidst some controversy over the navigation. But it was Colin Bond and George Shepheard with three wins and a second that took out the championship quite comfortably, the first of three national rally titles for the pair.
