The Mountain Circuit Trial was held on 22-23 May. It was the second round of the Tasmanian Trials Championship
Twenty three cars started this trial from Launceston, with an average speed and two transport sections taking them to Branches Creek where a series of sections around the main junction in the forest kept competitors and officials busy. A short coffee break preceded a visit to Long Hill plantation and a long transport back to Launceston for a meal break. Scores at this point were Long/Reid (2), Pooley/Tyson (3) and Maddock/Kelly (6).
The direction of Division Two was to the east of the Tamar River via Karoola, a muddy Lisle plantation, The Sidling, Koomeela and into Retreat forest. A transport back to Launceston concluded the trial, however 6 crews missed a route check at Karoola on this section.
