ARC Round 2 – 1974 MUCC Akademos Rally
Directed by Clarke Ballard for the Melbourne University Car Club, the 1974 Akademos was beset by horrendous weather in the days prior to the event requiring an almost complete reroute. Nevertheless, the event went ahead successfully with Colin Bond (With George Shepheard) winning by a single point from Frank Kilfoyle (with Ian Richards). Third place was George Fury (with Monty Suffern), a further 4 minutes adrift. Kilfoyle and Fury were in Datsun Rally Team 180Bs which were not eligible for ARC points. In fact only 9 of the 48 entrants had nominated for ARC points.
