Western District Car Club

The Geelong based Western District Car Club was established in 1947, initially auspiced by the Light Car Club. Soon after it began to conduct car trials, initially the Otway Trial and the Grampians Trial, the latter evolving into the Cooper Memorial Trial in 1957 after the death of member John Cooper in a racing accident.

The Cooper Memorial Rally was known as the Eclipse Motors Rally in 1976.

The Cooper Memorial Rally changed to the Ada River Rally in 2018.
