2010 Australian Rally Championship

With no manufacturer support for the series, the 2010 ARC became a battle between several private teams. Reigning champions Simon and Sue Evans switched from Lancer to Subaru and were challenged for the first half of the series by Scott Pedder and Jonathon Mortimer in a similar Subaru. Pedder took wins at the first two rounds in Tasmania and the West with Evans third and second. Evans took the win at the Coffs Coast while Pedder rolled out of Heat 2. South Australia was a repeat with Evans winning and Pedder off the road in Heat 2. Pedder sustained a knew injury which rendered him unable to contest the final two rounds, Evans won in Queensland to take the title with one round remaining. They had mechanical issues early on Rally Victoria and only finished 13th. Consistent results from Ryan and Rebecca Smart in a Corolla Sportiva gained them runner up by countback from Mark Pedder (with two different co-drivers) in a Lancer Evo9.

The 2WD champions we Eli Evans and Glen Weston in  a Honda Civic Type R. Both the Premier League and Privateers Cup were won by Michael Boaden and Helen Cheers in a Lancer Evo9. The Showroom Series and Eco Rally Challenge were both won by Mick Gillett and Harvey Smith in a Hyundai i30 CRDi.

With no Manufacturer participation the Manufacturers Award appears to have been based on all placings. Mitsubishi won narrowly from Subaru.

Series Regulations

Eligibility was Australian PRC, Group N and S2000.

Points were awarded down to outright twentieth, 40-34-30-26-22-20-18-16-14-12-10-9-8-7-6-5-4-3-2-1 on each heat. There was no 50% bonus on the final round. The three heats in Tasmania had Heats 1 and 3 points halved. Because Rally Queensland was an APRC round, ARC points were awarded BOTH for each day/heat (half each day) and for overall placings. All points counted. A bonus points was also given on each event for the most stage wins (across both heats). Series registration caused some placegetters in events to not appear in the final points tables.

PRC classes were the same as the previous year with four 2WD classes and only one 4WD class. There were no Group N class awards. Points in classes used the same system as for outright for each heat with a 50% bonus on the final round, with the best 8 points to count. It appears that the requirement for points to be scored in at least two rounds for class awards was dropped.

There was also a 2WD Championship, Premier League, Privateers Cup, Showroom Series and Eco Rally Challenge (best 4 results to count).

Events

There were six rounds this year. Rally of Canberra did not run but Rally Victoria joined the series for the first time.
