1989 Victorian Trials Series

The VTS was made up of map reading club events that called on driver, accuracy, consistency and endurance together with navigator map plotting and reading.

The 1989 VTS  driver award went to Graham Wallis while the navigators award went to Ross Runnalls, who navigated for both Ged Beckton and Glenn Cuthbert.

Series Regulations

These were specified in the VTS Standing Regulations. We do not have a copy but presume they were similar to the previous year.

Awards were made for outright champions, Grade 2 (non Grade 1, so Grade 3 and 4 could score points also), Clubman (Grades 3 and 4 only) and Novice (Grade 4 only).

In each event points were allocated 20, 15, 12, 10, 8, 6, 4, 3, 2, 1 for first to tenth. With four rounds, all points counted.

Events

After the cancellation of the Borderland Safari, this year the VTS only comprised three rounds:

  1. Experts Trial
  2. Bernarras Trial
  3. William Harvey Memorial Trial
