The Repco Alpine was held on November 24-26

LCCA Repco Alpine International Rally

The 1978 Repco Alpine was directed by Ian Richards for the Light Car Club. With a Friday start, the event comprised 560 km of competition across 43 special stages timed to the second. The event was also the first use of a maximum penalty system for each special stage.
 
After Greg Carr encountered problems, privateers Geoff Portman and Ross Runnalls took a narrow victory from the factory Escort of Colin Bond and John Dawson-Damer.
