The Shamateur 1, organised by the Light Car Club, was held on 19 June. The Shamateurs were designed as introductory events for novice crews but also allowed graded crews to compete. They weren’t a round of any series but were open to invited clubs including MMALCC, M850C, FFCC, CRBCC, CCRMIT and NCCA.
The outright winners (grade 4 only) were Owen Polanski and Doug Fernie on 10 points with Nicolas Quittner/Mark Tapp second on 11 and Greg Kilfoyle/Peter Allen third on 13. Among the graded crews, Ken Hartnell/Mick Brasier were first, Bruce Campbell/Ian McKenzie second and Keith Winter/Peter Maurer third.
