It was an unusual year for the VRC with the first four rounds conducted in March, April and May. The final round, the North Eastern, was not until October, but was then cancelled, reducing the series to those four rounds.
David Stannus and Peter Campbell ran out clear winners in their Pulsar GTi-R with two round wins and a fourth. Other round winners were Brett Thomson / Rob Vanderee (Galant VR4) and David and Felicity Nutter (Subaru).
Russell Hocking and Sue McCready took the 2WD championship with a win, a second and a fourth.
The Novice award was closely fought with four different round winners. Kristian Ristell tied with Doug Corben for the drivers award while John Ristell took the co-drivers award.
