Highlights

The VRC struggled for rounds in 2004, adding Bega and Rally of Melbourne (ARC) to make up a total of four rounds. The Victorian Rally Championship was won by Peter and Chris Montgomery in a Subaru Impreza WRX.

The Victorian Club Rally Series had six rounds, one concurrent with the VRC, and was won by Eli Evans and Matthew McAdam in a Subaru. Pakenham Auto Club took out the club award.

August saw the running of another Olde BP Rally, won by Terry Naish and Ross Runnalls.

Australian Rally Championship

The Victoria round of the Australian Rally Championship was Rally of Melbourne which was won by Victorians Cody Crocker and Greg Foletta to secure their second consecutive national title.

Victorian Rally Championship

Events comprising the 2004 RACEtech VRC were the Akademos, Bega Valley, Rally of Melbourne and North Eastern.

Outright champions: Peter Montgomery / Chris Montgomery, Subaru WRX

2WD champions equal:
Ben Fawcett / Tony Boyd, Nissan Pulsar GTi
Leigh Garrioch / Ken Garrioch, Mitsubishi Mirage Cyborg RS

Clubman Award driver: Keith Lewis, Suzuki Baleno
Co-driver equal: Kristaps Herman (with Keith Lewis) and Jason Hague (with Brett Ross)

Novice Award: Brett Ross / Jason Hague, Holden Commodore VN

Victorian Club Rally Series

There were 6 VCRS Events in 2004. The Autumn Midnight Trial was calendared as Round 2 but was cancelled as a result of the postponement of the David Nutter Ford Rally (VRC-1), which was ultimately cancelled anyway! The North Eastern Rally VCRS sub-event was added later.

HRA Rally Championship

This series was solely for members of the Historic Rally Association.

This was the first year of the Alpine being moved to Gippsland.
