Highlights
It was a challenging year for Victorian rallying with two VRC rounds cancelled. The series was brought up to four rounds with the inclusion of Bega (also NSWRC) and Rally of Victoria (also ARC).
The Victorian Rally Championship was won by Tristan Penhall and Jolie Middleton in a Subaru Impreza WRX STi.
The Victorian Club Rally Series ran successfully with Rob Parry taking the drivers award in a Datsun 1600 and Leigh Garrioch taking a second co-drivers win. Nissan Car Club again won the club award.
In May the HRA conducted possibly the final Old BP Rally.
The Alpine Rally of East Gippsland brought the year to a positive end with ex-WRC driver, Alistair McRae entered in an Escort. The event was successfully run in fine weather and McRae did not disappoint the spectators. He finished second to Jeff David’s Porsche after an encounter with a tree!
Australian Rally Championship
The Victorian round of the Australian Rally Championship was Rally Victoria. The event and the national title was won by Victorian Eli Evans (with Glen Weston) in a Honda Jazz.
