Victorian Rally Championship Round 6

The Ballarat Light Car Club revived the Begonia Rally after several years of it not being conducted. The event ran in the Ben Major, Mount Cole and Pyrenees areas under the directorship of Arron Secombe. The event was pace noted with recce on the Saturday.

It was a nail biting finish to the season for Darren Windus whose Subaru was ailing as they finished first in Heat 1 to secure the VRC. The car was then retired with engine troubles. Recently crowned Tasmanian Champion Craig Brookes with Steve Glenny ran out clear winners of the event. Top VRC crew were Todd Reed and William Murphy placing second on Heat 2 following their fifth place on Heat 1.

Aaron Secombe’s event report, taken from the BLCC magazine, is here.
