Highlights

2021 was a difficult year due to the continuing COVID-19 pandemic with lockdowns in various places and at various times, and many state borders closed from time to time. Nevertheless, some events were able to run and some championships contested!

The Till Hino Victorian Rally Championship ran over five rounds (Akademos was cancelled) and was won by Darren Windus and Joe Brkic in a Subaru Impreza WRX.

The Victorian Club Rally Series ran over seven rounds, five dual status with the VRC. Series winners were Keith and Judd Lewis in a Datsun 1600. The Nissan Car Club took out the club award.

Australian Rally Championship

The Gippsland Rally was to be Victoria’s round of the ARC but it was initially postponed due to COVID lockdowns and then dropped from the ARC due to state border closures. In the end, only two ARC rounds were conducted, the National Capital Rally and Rally Queensland. As such, the Australian Rally Championship was not awarded for a second year in succession.

Victorian Rally Championship

VRC events in 2021 were the Mitta Mountain, Ada River, Marysville Stages, Gippsland Rally and the Valley Stages.

Outright Champions: Darren Windus / Joe Brkic, Subaru Impreza WRC

2WD Champions: Adrian Stafford / Kain Manning, Ford Fiesta G2 ST

Clubman Award: Danny Traverso, Subaru Impreza RS
Co-driver: Samantha Brendel (with Troy Brendel)

Novice Award: Lance Rippon / Paul Loughnan, Toyota Levin

Victorian Club Rally Series

There were 7 VCRS events in 2021 – Mitta Mountain, Ada River, Victoria Cross, Marysville Stages, Nissan Nightmoves, Valley Stages and Gippsland Rally. The Moonlight Meander, Daryl Tunbridge and Akademos were originally included but were cancelled and the Gippsland Rally was added as an extra final round.

Victorian Sprint Rally Series

This series was run over four events – Mitta Mountain, Ada River, Marysville Stages and the Gippsland Rally.

HRA Rally Championship

This series was solely for members of the Historic Rally Association.
