The Rally of the Rising Sun, sometime known as the Rising Sun Trial, had a varied history seemingly starting in 1974. The event was often navigationally oriented and was a round of the Victorian Clubman Championship/Series and the Victorian Trials Championship/Series during the 1980s and into the 1990s. In 1992 it morphed into a special stage event as a round of the Victorian Rally Championship but apparently succumbed to dwindling fields and financial challenges and did not continue after the cancellation of the 1996 edition.
