The Marysville Stages evolved out of the Ford Four Car Club’s Spring 200 Rally in 2010 as a round of the Victorian Club Rally Championship. It has also been called the Marysville Marathon and has from time to time incorporated the Spring 200, the Camcrusher and the Anglia Memorial as sub-events. As its name implies, it has always been conducted out of Marysville and was the brainchild of Director, John Roberts.

From 2014 it was a joint VRC / VCRS round but in 2023 it withdrew from the VRC and was run as the Southern Classic Rally, but incorporated the Marysville Stages as the VCRS round.
