Highlights

The VRC was unusual with four rounds early in the year then a big gap to the final round in October. This was due to the cancellation of both the Akademos and Rising Sun due to financial concerns and reduced field sizes. The Victorian Rally Championship was won by Graeme Wise and Helen Wylie in their Ford Sierra XR4 V6 for a second time.

In contrast, the Victorian Club Rally Series was conducted over ten rounds and was won by Brian Semmens and Dan Parry in a Corolla. The Nissan Car Club won the club award.

The Victorian Trial Series struggled for events and entrants.

Australian Rally Championship

Victoria’s full round of the Australian Rally Championship was the Rally of Melbourne, the first time that name was used after the event debuted in 1993 as the Healesville Stages. Winner was Michael Guest and David Green in a Mitsubishi Lancer Evo.

In addition, the Alpine Rally and VIC TV Rally in the Valley were ran as ARC Coefficient 5 rounds.

Series

Victorian Rally Championship

VRC events for 1994 were the Begonia, Rally of Melbourne (also ARC), Alpine, Rally in the Valley and North Eastern.

Outright Champions: Grame Wise / Helen Wylie, Ford Sierra XR4 V6 4WD

Novice Award Equal:
Mark Fawcett, Volvo 240T
Cody Crocker / Greg Foletta, Mazda RX5

Victorian Trials Series

The Victorian Trials Series, previously called the Victorian Trials Championship, was a series of open events designed to test the skills of both driver and navigator.

The VTS events this year were:

  1. Snowy River Trial
  2. Yulunga Trial
  3. Nightstalker Trial

Victorian Club Rally Series

This year the series comprised the:

  1. MMAL Safari Trial – Results in March Unicar
  2. George Derrick Autumn Midnight – results also in March Unicar
  3. Nissan Nightmoves – Results in April Unicar
  4. Rivertown Trial – results also in May Unicar
  5. Tocoan Trial – results also in June Unicar
  6. Bog-A-Duck – results also in Sep Unicar
  7. WDCC Trial – Results in Oct Unicar
  8. Spring 200 – Results also in Oct Unicar
  9. George Jacobson Memorial Zodiac Trial – results also in Nov Unicar
  10. Swinburne 200 – results also in Dec Unicar with Series points.

Western Region Trial Series

This series of closed events was for clubs in western Victoria, in particular Geelong, Ballarat and Melton. Events held were:

  3. Goldrush Trial
  4. Greg Lock Memorial Trial
  5. Daryl Tunbridge Memorial Trial
  6. Nightstalker Trial

Riverina & North Eastern Series

This closed series was for members of the car clubs in northern and north-eastern Victoria. The series comprised:

  3. Whitenuckles Trial
  4. North Eastern Rally
  5. West’s Tractor Parts Trial
