Highlights

After the cancellation of the Alpine, the Victorian Rally Championship comprised only four rounds and was won by Graeme Wise in his Mitsubishi Lancer. The champion co-driver was Greg Foletta, who partnered Cody Crocker. 

The Victorian Club Rally Series comprised six rounds and was won by Keith Cuttle in a Commodore, with David Leoncini (navigating for Brian Semmens) taking out the navigators award. The Ford Four Car Club took out the club award.

This was the last year of the Victorian Trial Series.

1995 saw the running of the first Round Australia trial for 16 years, the Mobil 1 Reliability Trial. The event was held in June and early July and passed through Victoria on the third and fourth days.

Australian Rally Championship

Victoria’s full round of the Australian Rally Championship was the Rally of Melbourne. Winners were Neal Bates and Coral Taylor in their Toyota Celica GT-Four, who went on to win the national title for their third time.

Series

Victorian Rally Championship

There were only 4 VRC events: Rally of Melbourne (also ARC), Win TV Rally in the Valley, North Eastern and Djerriwarrah.

Outright champion driver: Graeme Wise, Mitsubishi Lancer RS-e

Outright co-driver: Greg Foletta (with Cody Crocker)

Novice Award: Michael Cameron / Peter Howgate, Holden Commodore / Subaru Legacy RS

Victorian Trials Series

The Victorian Trials Series, previously called the Victorian Trials Championship, was a series of open events designed to test the skills of both driver and navigator. This was the last year that the VTS was conducted.

The VTS events this year were:

  1. Borderland Safari
  2. Yulunga Trial
  3. William Harvey Memorial Trial
  4. Jim Maude Memorial Experts Trial (cancelled??)

Victorian Club Rally Series

Notes about classes and series registration in January Unicar.

  1. TCV Trial – Report and results in March Unicar (some correction in April & May)
  2. George Derrick Memorial Trial – Report and results in April Unicar (some corrections in May)
  3. Nissan Nightmoves – Results in May Unicar
  4. Rivertown Trial – Results in June Unicar and amended points in Aug Unicar
  5. Spring 200 – Results in Oct Unicar
  6. WDCC Trial – Results in Dec Unicar (and series points and commentary on the complexity!!)

Western Region Trial Series

This series of closed events was for clubs in western Victoria, in particular Geelong, Ballarat and Melton. Events held were: 

  1. Pakenham Yakerboo Historic Rally
  2. Welcome Stanger Trial
  3. Yulunga Trial (also VTS)
  4. William Harvey Memorial Trial (also VTS)
  5. Cooper Memorial Trial

Riverina & North Eastern Series

This closed series was for members of the car clubs in northern and north-eastern Victoria. The series comprised:

  1. Tiger 200 (AWDCC) on 19 April
  2. Autumn Trial (NECC) on 27 May
  3. Goulburner (SDCC) on 19 August
