Highlights
1990 was a reasonably successful year for Victorian rallying as competitors adjusted to the new world with no Group G cars. A few events were postponed or cancelled, especially for the TAUCC series which was reduced from six to three rounds.
The Victorian Rally Championship was won by David Greig and Paul Tirant in their Datsun 260Z. It was conducted over five rounds, including the Alpine (also ARC). Dual points were on offer for PRC and Clubman cars.
Australian Rally Championship
Victoria’s round of the Australian Rally Championship was the BP Visco Alpine Rally. It was won by George Fury and Ross Runnalls in a Galant VR4, by more than 6 minutes from Ed Ordynski and Mark Nelson in a similar car. Ordynski and Nelson went on the win the national title that year.
