Highlights
There were highs and lows for Victorian rallying in 2008. The cancellation of Rally of Melbourne left the state without an ARC round and also deprived the VRC of two heats. The cancellation of Bega compounded the problem. The HRA stepped in with the Murrundindi Magic to bolster the series. Â Mark Fawcett and Simon Ellis won the five round Victorian Rally Championship in a Subaru WRC STi.
The Victorian Club Rally Series also had five rounds, none of dual status, and was won for a second year by Andrew Taylor and Robin Smalley in an RX7. The Nissan Car Club again won the club award.
May saw the running of the BP Ultimate Rally, the sixth “Old” BP Rally rerun.
In September many Victorians participated in the Red Centre to Gold Coast Trial, won by David and Kate Officer in their 1970 Galant.
Australian Rally Championship
There was no Victorian round of the Australian Rally Championship.
