Highlights
After the challenges of the Covid pandemic, 2022 saw a return to relative normality.
The Till Hino Victorian Rally Championship was convincingly won by Adrian Stratford and Kain Manning in a Subaru Impreza WRX STi. There were five rounds after the Akademos was cancelled due to severe weather.
The Victorian Club Rally Series ran successfully over seven rounds, four dual status with the VRC. The winners were Steve Porter and Tony Robinson in a an RX7. The Nissan Car Club won the club award again.
At the end of March the much-postponed Classic Outback Trial, organised from Victoria, but run in central NSW, was won by Andrew and David Travis in a Nissan Gazelle.
At the end of the year the postponed Lock & Load Transport Alpine Rally of East Gippsland was conducted in celebration of the 100th anniversary of the first Alpine Rally in 1921. The event was won for a second time by Nathan Quinn and Ray Winwood-Smith in a Mazda RX2.
Australian Rally Championship
The Gippsland Rally was Victoria’s round of the ARC. The event was won by Lewis Bates and Anthony McLoughlin in a Yarris. They went on the win the national title for the first time.
