Highlights

It was a good year for Victorian rallying with solid fields for five VRC rounds and six VCRS rounds.

The Victorian Rally Championship was won by Glen Raymond and Kate Catford in a Subaru WRX STi. The Victorian Club Rally Series was won by Cary Seabrook and Rhiannon Philpot-Hale in a Datsun Stanza. The HRA won the club award,

The year ended on a wet note with the running of the bi-annual Alpine Rally of East Gippsland. Ben Barker and Damien Long mastered the tough conditions to win by almost 2 minutes from former ARC champion, Simon Evans. 

Australian Rally Championship

Victoria hosted the first round of the Australian Rally Championship with the Eureka Rally, won by Harry Bates and John McCarthy

Victorian Rally Championship

VRC events for 2017 were the Eureka Rally (also ARC), Mitta Mountain, Derrick Pyrenees Rush, Marysville Stages and Akademos.

Outright Champions: Glen Raymond / Kate Catford, Subaru WRX STi

2WD Champions: Grant Walker / Steph Richards, Ford Escort RS1800

Clubman Award: Brian Newton / Ryan Price, Honda Civic EG6

Novice Award: Brendan Hood / Richard Hood, Hyundai Excel

Victorian Club Rally Series

There were 6 VCRS events this year, the Cooper Memorial Rally, the Daryl Tunbridge Trial, the Nissan Nightmoves, the Spring 200 (sub-event of Marysville Stages), the South-West Stages and the Autumn Midnight Rally.

Series winners were Cary Seabrook and Rhiannon Philpot-Hale with 115 points. They also won the 2WD and Class D championships. Matt Lee and Annie Dougherty were a close second on 110 points, with Aidan O’Halloran third in the drivers championship on 108.

This series was solely for members of the Historic Rally Association.
