Highlights

The Victorian Rally Championship was narrowly won by Scott Pedder and Paul Humm in a Lancer Evo 1.

The Victorian Club Rally Series was won by Andrew Hollole and Stephen Dunbar in a Holden Commodore. Nissan Car Club won the club award.

The season was marred by the death of Steven Poore in a fatal accident on the first round of the VCRS, the Bog-a-Duck Trial, which was then abandoned. 

Australian Rally Championship

Victoria’s round of the Australian Rally Championship was again the Rally of Melbourne. It saw the first ARC heat win for Cody Crocker in his Group N Subaru. This followed the demise of the favourites, Bates who rolled the Corolla on Mt Slide and Bourne, who slipped off the road on Ben Cairn. Bates recovered to win Heat 2 with Crocker third. Ordynski placed second on both heats in his Lancer.

Victorian Rally Championship

VRC events were Rally in the Valley, Strzelecki Stages, Rally of Melbourne, Begonia, North Eastern and Djerriwarrah.

Outright champions: Scott Pedder / Paul Humm, Mitsubishi Lancer Evo 1

2WD champions: Mark Miller, Ford Escort Mk II
Co-driver: David Leoncini (with Brian Semmens)

Novice award: David Schneiders / Michael Stiglich, Holden Commodore

Victorian Club Rally Series

There were 5 VCRS events this year. The Bog-A-Duck Trial was intended to be Round 1 but was abandoned due to a fatal accident. Results are in March Unicar but it didn’t count towards the series. The Rivertown Trail was to be the final round but was cancelled.

  2. TCV Trial – Results in April Unicar (amended due protest in June Unicar)
  3. George Derrick Memorial Trial – Results also in April Unicar
  4. Nissan Nightmoves – Results in Sep Unicar
  5. Spring 200 Trial – Results also in Oct Unicar, revised results and points in Dec Unicar
  6. Mount Alexander Trial – Results also in Oct Unicar

Robson Cup Rallye Series

The Western Region Trial Series morphed into the Robson Cup. Events:
